Kill Movie Review “KILL” – Better Than “Animal”

Overview of Kill Movie

Kill Movie Review “KILL” – Better Than “Animal” Firstly, I have immense respect for Nikhil Nagesh Bhat. He has absolutely nailed it with “KILL,” and I’m not taking this statement lightly. This is, without a doubt, the best action film I’ve seen in India so far. Literally, it’s the best action film made in India to date. For an hour and a half, I found myself just smiling; my cheeks started to hurt. The action is so incredible that the last time I felt this exhilarated was watching “John Wick” and “The Raid: Redemption.” And it’s not just a movie; it’s a benchmark for Indian action films, showing how to make a raw, brutal adult action film.

Unlike many Bollywood and even Hollywood action films where deaths are portrayed more as visual noise, “KILL” presents its deaths with meaning. Even if they’re grim, there’s an underlying sentiment behind them that is palpable. Everyone should experience it, and if it’s still in theaters, make sure to catch it. Delay your other tasks if you can handle such intense and gory content.

The story of the movie is straightforward. The hero, Laxya, played by Amrit, is an army commando who wants to marry his girlfriend. However, her family has arranged her engagement elsewhere, and they’re from a powerful, Baahubali-like family. One night, while the girl’s family is traveling by train for the wedding, a massive, systematic robbery is orchestrated by a notorious gang. They block off an entire section of the train, sealing it off. The heist is incredibly organized. But the trouble begins when the girl’s commando boyfriend and his friend are on the train and will do anything to save her. The chaos escalates to such a level that the entire train is littered with bodies.

Taran Adarsh’s Review

Without giving too much away, there is a scene at the interval that will break your heart. It’s quite entertaining but also deeply moving. The second half of the film takes a new turn, making you understand the brutality of the killings and the mental state of the characters. Things get crazier as the film progresses. I appreciated how the story doesn’t just focus on the boyfriend-girlfriend trope but keeps hinting at how dangerous a potential sequel could be, considering the girl’s family is no small fry. The gang knows this too and vows to track them down if they survive, expanding the scope of the film’s universe.

The film doesn’t waste much time with these details and quickly jumps back into the action, similar to “Fury Road.” The story remains simple but grand. The film features three main characters:

  1. Tanuja Aadi, played by Tanya, the daughter of a dangerous businessman. Although her screen time is limited, her role is significant.
  2. Laxya, played by Amrit, who leads the show and adds a bit of spice with his physical prowess.
  3. Raghav Juyal, who steals the show with his intense, manipulative, and unpredictable portrayal. There’s a scene where he uses a knife in a manner reminiscent of “John Wick,” and it’s both disturbing and entertaining. His actions make such an impact that even the dead might end up hating him.

Times Now News Review

The film’s climax sees Amrit transforming into a scorpion-like avenger, and it continues to push boundaries of intensity. Ashish Vidyarthi’s role as the brain behind the gang adds depth, but his son’s actions complicate matters further, hinting at possible future developments in a sequel.

Box Office Worldwide Review

The film’s stakes may not matter after a certain point, but it maintains a high level of excitement. It’s impressive how every side character has a name, and their deaths affect their families, adding emotional weight to the narrative. There’s a poignant scene where bodies hanging from the train make a statement about the magnitude of the violence, almost reminiscent of a genocide, which is my favorite scene for its storytelling importance.

“KILL” pays attention to details like the time remaining and upcoming stations, showing that it’s not just about action and violence but also about the meticulous effort put into every aspect. The film’s action choreography is world-class, with creative camera usage in confined spaces like the train.

Conclusion

Rumors have it that Hollywood has already acquired the remake rights for the film, which is well-deserved. This movie is a thrilling experience that will leave you emotionally drained, yet deeply entertained. If you haven’t seen it yet and can handle violence and gore, go watch it. It’s one of a kind and arguably the best action movie in Indian cinema so far. If it doesn’t receive the support it deserves, it would be a shame. So, please watch it if you can and stay tuned to PJ Explains.
